ANSWER:

1. I always make them MYSELF. (Aku selalu membuat pakaian-pakian itu sendiri). Maknanya adalah pakaian-pakaian itu tidak aku beli melainkan aku buat sendiri.

MYSELF (dan begitu juga: yourself, yourselves, ourselves, itself, himself, herself, themselves) adalah reciprocal pronoun untuk mengekspresikan bahwa suatu action (di soal ini: MADE) dilakukan oleh subject kalimat itu sendiri.

Contoh lain:

She did that herself.
He build the house himself.
You can’t always depend on other persons. You must depend on yourself.

ERROR RECOGINITION:

2. The wrong one should be option C. It should be “will“. NOTE: Spelling error recognition kadang-kadang muncul dalam TOEFL. This kind of test is the easiest, I think. :)

3. The wrong one is option B. It should be “why“. Di sini, Rina mengekspresikan kalimat tak langsung (indirect speech) dari kalimat langsung yang dikatakan oleh the teacher. Option C benar dalam past perfect tense ( yaitu: “had made”) karena main verb di kalimat langsung adalah dalam simple past tense (yaitu: “made”).

4. The wrong one is option C. It should be either “being” or “to be“. Di sini, phrase “being a pilot” or “to be a pilot“berfungsi sebagai subject dari sub-clause. NOTE: Verb1 tidak pernah digunakan sebagai subject kalimat.
